
BIOGRAPHY
Joan Grant, B.A., M.Ed.
Joan Grant received her BA from Queens College, City University of New York, and her master’s degree from Rutgers University. She has taught middle school and high school as well as undergraduate college courses and currently teaches graduate university courses for teachers. She was Lead Teacher for several high school departments, Coordinator for the International Baccalaureate program and taught the central IB course, Theory of Knowledge (exploring how we learn what we know). Her graduate courses for teachers include brain-based learning, executive functioning, teaching students diagnosed with ADHD, gender differences in the classroom and the specific requirements necessary to deal successfully with tweens and teens.
Her commitment has been to helping students to understand the individual learning difficulties they may be facing and devising successful strategies to enable them to reach their full potential.
Ms. Grant has the unique ability to teach a wide number of students in especially varied circumstances… She ranks among the most flexible, adaptable and open-minded of the district staff.
